In an effort to increase productivity I am looking at several options for journal and blogging entry.

Wedding pics coming.
I'm pretty excited, I am officiating a wedding and they are using both my Canon Xti DV camera and the 400D. I offered to do the photography but the photographer refused, they didn't want to officiate, I think they just wanted to try out my 400D. They are a Nikon SLR user, don't know which, I have never been a Nikon fan so I really don't remember. I am hoping the lens will be okay for Wedding photography, we'll find out in a tomorrow and I can play with them in Lightroom.
By the way I am a huge Apple fan but Lightroom makes more sense than Aperture in so many ways. The first time I tried out Aperture I was confused at its purpose, the first time I used Lightroom I used it and did something with my photographs. I am having the same problem with Canon's Digital Photo Professional, really not sure how to use it, not the mechanics but the purpose and usefulness. At the moment I am not using much RAW, so I really can't see beyond Lightroom.
One thing I have noticed is in editing Photoshop Elements might come up short in the editing of 16 bit, I am going to search the forums for thoughts on 16 & 8 bit editing and the 'real' difference to the eye.

One thing at a time...
I took the family to the Cultural Center here in Chia-Yi, they had a Monkey stone carving and International Bands Festival. Took the 400D along too. I was testing the Sigma 28-300 lens on how useful it can be. I think is was quite nice but I can see how the professionals like to use them big lens too. I agian kept everything on auto so I good get a feel for the camera and the lens.
My son Caleb was very cooperative, though the sun was too bright for good exposure on his pics. I need to go earlier next time.
The Monkey carvings here were taken form 35 meters. I don't know if my subject is positioned as I wanted but I like it.
Having trouble posting pictures right now will wait to do more later...

Night time shot
Had a chance to go out last night to see if the built in flash on the EOS 400D was adequate for some family pictures at the local Plaza. Set the camera on auto to save time and just get a feel for the possibilities. Not bad. I took some that were about 20-30 meters and not so good but I expected that. This photo was one time I could get Caleb to sit still for a moment and came out pretty good. I will still get a flash but the prices here are prohibitive, especially when my wife hears the cost, or even the need to spend more. ; )
